People frequently ask me how did I end up designing japa malas! The story of Heart of Joy began when I was looking for a mala beads which would be suitable not just for the meditation practice but also for everyday use as a sacred jewelry. Since I couldn’t find a mala matching the criteria, I literally dreamed a perfect one and created it! I wanted it to be something unique and very personal, a mala that I could carry with me as a helper along my spiritual path.
A japa mala is a string of 108 beads with one bead as the guru bead. Mala is a Sanskrit word which means garland and japa recitation. So japa mala can be translated as prayer beads for meditation. While counting the beads one by one starting from the guru bead you can silently say your mantra. Beads are actually a tool to keep the mind focused during the meditation practice. Semi precious gemstones add a wonderful healing quality to your jewelry and your everday life!
Heart of Joy -mala beads are hand made with love, passion and joy! They have been blessed to inspire you on the spiritual path by a puja done at Broome Street Ganesha Temple in NYC.
I love creatating mala beads for you who are ready to follow your heart’s desires! Because your dreams matter.
With much love and joy,
